Royal Jazz Club is a jazz club at the Radisson Blu Royal in the heart of Helsinki, featuring a rotating line-up of guest artists performing with pianist Lassi Kouvo. Admission is free, and the music starts at 7:00 PM.

25 September – Kari Antila & Lassi Kouvo Royal Jazz Club

Guitarist Kari Antila takes the spotlight at Royal’s jazz evening!

Kari is one of Finland’s most internationally successful jazz musicians and is also known as the founder of the Jazzkukko Festival. Lassi Kouvo and Kari Antila first met in New York at the legendary Smalls jazz club jam sessions in 2012 and have been collaborating ever since.

The evening will feature original compositions by Kari and Lassi, alongside a selection of jazz standards.

9 October – Joonatan Rautio & Lassi Kouvo Royal Jazz Club

Saxophonist Joonatan Rautio is one of Finland’s most highly regarded jazz musicians and is considered among the international elite of his instrument.

Known for his virtuosity, dynamic soloing and versatility, Rautio will perform at Royal Jazz Club together with pianist Lassi Kouvo.

23 October – Mikko Pettinen & Lassi Kouvo Royal Jazz Club

Royal Jazz Club welcomes award-winning trumpeter and soulful vocalist Mikko Pettinen as its guest artist.

Mikko is known for his work with big bands such as UMO, as well as for his acclaimed small-group projects, including Why Not and MP4. At Royal, Pettinen will perform with club host and pianist Lassi Kouvo, interpreting jazz standards in the spirit of Chet Baker.

6 November – Veera Aliska & Lassi Kouvo Royal Jazz Club

Born in Turku in 1997, Veera Aliska is a vocalist, trombonist and composer.

At Royal Jazz Club, Veera will perform a selection of jazz standards together with pianist and club host Lassi Kouvo.

20 November – Tero Saarti & Lassi Kouvo Royal Jazz Club

Tero Saarti performs classic jazz standards with a warm, elegant trumpet sound and a strong sense of swing. His repertoire features well-known swing tunes and ballads, brought to life with sophisticated and musical interpretations.

Tero Saarti is a Finnish trumpeter known for his warm tone, strong swing and refined jazz expression. He has been a member of the UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra since 1992 and has performed extensively throughout Finland’s jazz and big band scene. His playing is characterized by musicality, expressive phrasing and subtle dynamic control, offering an elegant and accessible take on jazz classics.

At Royal Jazz Club, Tero performs together with club host and pianist Lassi Kouvo.

4 December – Bianca Morales & Lassi Kouvo Royal Jazz Club

Bianca Morales is a virtuoso jazz vocalist and charismatic performer who first rose to national prominence in the 1980s after winning MTV3’s inaugural Kevään Sävel song competition with Our Party.

Today, she is an internationally acclaimed and highly experienced vocalist, performing with both jazz ensembles and big bands. Bianca’s expressive and playful style — featuring scat, whistling and even kazoo solos — captivates audiences and often inspires them to join in the singing.

In Bianca and Lassi Kouvo’s “Happy Jazz” concert at the Radisson Blu Royal, audiences can expect a relaxed and swinging evening filled with evergreen jazz and swing classics, joy and surprises, as well as music from Bianca’s popular albums Unelmaloma Roomassa and The Nearness of You.
