Frans & Ellie is a restaurant filled with French cuisine and culture, with a delicious meeting of traditions. The name of the restaurant is a nod to Joensuu’s local cultural heritage, as the name Ellie refers to the famous Elli of Joensuu, a fictional female figure from a folk song by Eino Kettunen. The song was popularised by Tapio Rautavaara in the 1950s and has since become part of the cultural heritage of the city of Joensuu.

Our menu includes both classic dishes loved by everyone as well as fascinating novelties. Let the French cuisine transport you to the atmospheric boulevards of Paris, the bustling alleys of Lyon and the sun-soaked vineyards of Provence.

Frans & Ellie is located in the Original Sokos Hotel Kimmel building on the banks of River Pielisjoki – in a perfect location for both everyday and festive occasions.

A children’s menu is also available for the family’s younger members.
