In the times of Russian Empire, beer was a commonplace beverage in Helsinki. It was even shipped over to the Suomenlinna fortress to be used instead of water.
This is why Bistro Gimis is serving lovely, thick blinis with a batter containing beer from Suomenlinna Brewery and buckwheat flour. The toppings represent traditional flavours of Helsinki.
