HOTELL VIRU 50th ANNIVERSARY PRODUCTS AND OFFERS
Dinner theatre has always played an important role in the history of the legendary, 50-year-old hotel. For the last 12 seasons, the Merineitsi Restaurant has served as the home stage for the Starlight Cabaret. During that time, audiences have been treated to six original productions, 126 revue numbers and 600 cabaret evenings.
The 50th anniversary cabaret event is called Crème de la Crème – the Starlight Cabaret's greatest hits. It's a colourful selection of the heart-stealing best of past eras. The anniversary programme runs until 23 April 2022.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary, a selection of truly unique festive beverages were fermented! An exclusive sparkling wine and ciders from the acclaimed Jaanihanso Cider House. The signature beverage of Viru Hotel's anniversary is Jaanihanso No. 12 Brut Méthode Traditionnelle – a dry sparkling apple wine, pressed from late-season Estonian juice apples harvested in 2017, fermented with wild Estonian yeast and to top it all off, bottle-fermented for 18 months using the traditional champagne method. The result is an authentic, one of a kind bouquet that is sure to warm the hearts of Estonians, who venerate apples. The other bottled beverage to mark the jubilee is Jaanihanso Rosé Méthode Traditionnelle – a pleasantly mellow bottle-fermented semi-dry cider, also from 2017 apples. A retro-tinged semi-dry rhubarb cider was also bottled, and it's already a firm favourite for designer bottle collectors.

Chef de cuisine Margus Tammpere has created a homage to the classic confectionery traditions of the early years of the hotel – the impossibly airy and swirly zephyr confections that were a favourite sweet for an entire generation. The legendary delicacy can be enjoyed in person at the Viru Café or wrapped up to go!
POP-UP EXHIBITIONS AT THE MUSEUM
When the hotel was opened in 1972, Estonia's calendar of public holidays events was a little different. Some of those days are gone and forgotten, while others live on. Some of them might even raise eyebrows. What are the stories and traditions behind these celebrations? Our museum guides introduce pop-up exhibitions devoted to holidays in different eras. There's plenty of lore. We're also glad to listen to visitors reminisce on these topics. and document these stories…..
Going to the sauna with friends has always been a part of Estonian culture – both during Soviet times and during independence. The combination of steam off the hot rocks and good company shouldn't ever be underestimated. Viru's three saunas are the only ones outside Finland that have been issued AUTENTIC FINNISH SAUNA EXPERIENCE certificates.
